Hello,
Since January at Hayy Open Space, we’ve hosted the Sound Harmony exhibition and publication, the exhibition Sometimes Its Shadow Falls Inside, several Creation Workshops and a writing workshop, the first edition of the MENU project planned as a series—MENU #1 Ephemeral, along with its communal table—and the exhibition of artists who were guests of AIR Meserret. In collaboration with Monk Community, we welcomed Levon’s Tavern and revisited the inspiring days of the 90s pop scene through live performances by Deniz Tekin and Levent Sevi.
This year, we received a grant of 120,000 TL from SAHA Association’s Sustainability Fund for Art Initiatives. We’ve already spent most of it 🙂 We continue to keep things going with individual contributions; service support from Lamarts, Asya Nakliyat, and Karşılaşmalar; and the generous help of our friends in areas like graphic design, production, and photographic documentation.
Starting in September, we plan to gather in the garden, under the trees, and launch our seminar series A Galaxy Guide for Art Workers and Artists, accompanied by Apo’s tea and coffee to keep us moving.
In October, we’ll finally realize a long-planned project—one we’ve had in mind for years—even though we still haven’t decided on a name. We’re still unsure whether we’ll be able to carry out the research project we’ve prepared on art publishing, which is part of our program.
We continue to live through all that is happening in the world, in our country, in our city, in our home, and in our hearts—grateful for Hayy’s aptly named existence.
If you’d like to support us, purchase editions or publications donated by our friends, or share your feedback, you can reach us at hayy@hayyopenspace.com or contact Saliha and Ayşe directly.
